We’re excited to fully renovate our headquarters, scaling our capacity and elevating the experience for youth, staff, and the broader community who call our “Hub” home.
Gearing Up for Growth Capital and Capacity-Building Campaign
After raising $6 Million over five years towards our $8 Million Goal for our Gearing Up For Growth Campaign (GU4G), we are now focusing our efforts to bring to life our vision for an expanded, state-of-the-art headquarters.
As a result of the first phase of GU4G, we refined our program models, strengthened our operations, expanded the scope of our bike shop, forged new partnerships, and deepened our capacity to track and measure our impact.
Since 2020, we double our staff capacity and engaged expert consultants, making it possible for us to:
- Deepen support for Youth Apprentices through integrated workforce development and career exploration.
- Expand our community impact through broader Earn-A-Bike reach, Wheels 2 Wellness ride events, Safer Streets campaigns, and our mission-driven bike shop.
- Strengthening data/evaluation operations
- Growing and deepening our Global partnerships
Final Stretch for GU4G Campaign: Renovation and Long-Term Financial Sustainability
$2 Million Total
$1.5 Million Renovation:
The renovation of our headquarters at Bikes Not Bombs is essential to further advancing our mission and meeting the ever-growing needs of our community.
$500,000 Operating Reserve:
This will strengthen our financial footing, ensuring that BNB will be prepared to weather any financial storms.
Renovation and Future Impact
Our renovation will transform the front of our Shop, creating a highly visible, welcoming entrance into our full-service Bike Shop.
No doorbell required: customers will walk into our space without needing to be let in by staff, making our space more inviting and allowing staff to spend more time directly assisting customers with their questions & purchases.
With an improved layout, lighting, noise reduction, and climate control, the program area will foster a comfortable learning environment for apprentices and participants of community classes.
The space will also enable us to host community gatherings to advance transportation equity advocacy efforts.
The addition of a second floor for dedicated bike storage to keep up with rising demand in our full-service Bike Shop. This space will also allow for an increase in used bike collections, shipments, refurbishments, and support improved systems for bike parts sorting and storage.
Dedicated space for indoor cycling classes will enable us to grow an inclusive cycling community year-round.
Reconfigured sales floor, mechanics area, and storage space will increase our Bike Shop's capacity for bike sales, repairs, and mission-aligned community engagement — creating additional earned-revenue potential while supporting youth learning and workforce development.
Individual offices and meeting rooms (unavailable to us in our current layout) to allow dedicated spaces for Youth Apprentices to engage in career development activities.
