Bike-A-Thon: Routes
Join us for the 37th annual Bike-A-Thon in Jamaica Plain on September 8th, 2024!!
Routes
Riders can choose to ride 10 miles, 35 miles, 50 miles, 63 miles, or 105 miles on some of the best routes in Eastern Mass. All of the routes head west-southwest from Jamaica Plain with 'cutoffs' for the different route options. Just like last year, all rider bibs will have a QR code for each route, which can be scanned via smartphone to quickly pull up a link to any route.
GPX routes are all available to view and download from Ride With GPS, you may view the route collection here or scroll through below for brief route descriptions & direct links!
The Emerald Necklace route is perfect for the whole family, taking advantage of cycling paths wherever possible in Franklin Park, along the Southwest Corridor Park, and near Jamaica Pond. The rest stop in Franklin Park is located halfway through the route with easy access to a playground. Some urban riding skills are required.
Clocking in just shy of 35 miles, this route is perfect for cyclists who don’t want to spend all day riding but still want to get a great workout in! This route takes riders through Roslindale, West Roxbury, Newton, and Needham out to Weston, where riders can fuel up at our rest stop in Weston before riding back to Jamaica Plain.
After splitting off from the 35 Mile route in Weston, the 50 Mile route shines as riders pass through beautiful landscapes in Lincoln, Concord, and Wayland. This route utilizes well-maintained, quiet roads as it weaves past conservation land, picturesque farms, and historic homes.
This route is adapted from the 100 mile route and is also a great option for riders looking to go a bit further than 50 miles. Clocking in at 100 kilometers (or 63 miles), riders can brag that they rode a Century after finishing this route! Enjoy quiet roads, scenic farmland, and beautiful woodlands - all with plenty of time to get back to Stonybrook for lunch. Most of the world uses the Metric system, so why not have a Metric Century?
Our 105 mile route to Harvard is back for another great year! Riders will enjoy smooth, scenic stretches as the route winds north past Minute Man National Historical Park to quiet country roads in Acton, Littleton, Harvard, and Stow. With some of the best scenery in the Metro West, riders will be well rewarded for this challenging ride! At 105 miles with 5,700 ft of elevation, riders should expect to train adequately for this ride.
