The program will run from July 27 through August 15, held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.

On-The-Bike is a program for youth aged 12-18 who are looking to:

  • Complete daily bike rides, gradually increasing in distance
  • Learn about bike safety, proper helmet and bike fitting
  • Learn bike riding and commuting skills
  • Learn and execute basic bike maintenance tasks such as flat fixing, adjust wheels, brakes, and gears
  • Understand basic social justice values, systems, political education and awareness

No experience in biking or mechanics is necessary to apply and every program graduate will ride away on their very own refurbished bicycle and helmet!

How to Apply:

On-The-Bike applications can be downloaded from this page (applications closed), or you can pick them up in person at our Bike Shop. To qualify for enrollment, BOTH the application (filled out) and payment (cash or check only), or volunteer commitment (if preferred) need to be submitted. Program Fees: $50 - $100, both are sliding scale - you decide how much you can pay. If you are unable to afford any class fee, you can submit a fee waiver request instead of payment, and this will not affect whether or not you are accepted to the course.

Please mail or deliver the application & fee to: Eljah Evans, Bikes Not Bombs, 284 Amory Street, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130. If you have any questions, please contact Elijah at 617-522-0222 x101 or email elijah@bikesnotbombs.org.
