THANK YOU PEDRO'S! This January, BNB's shipment to the Village Health Workers in Amuru, Northern Uganda, arrived without a scratch. In addition to the 400 adult mountain bikes, BNB loaded tons of spare parts and tools, including an AMAZING donation of tools from PEDRO'S, filling multiple tool boxes. Read more...

The Bike Shop will return to winter hours beginning the week of October 28th 2013. The shop will be open Mondays and Fridays from 11am-7pm, Tuesdays through Thursdays from 8am-8pm, and Saturdays from 10am-6pm. The shop will be closed on Sundays. For more information, call 617-522-0226. Read more...

Bikes Not Bombs is proud to announce that our third annual Building Momentum Breakfast, held on Wednesday, October 23rd, was a huge success. Over 75 guests attended the event including long-time community members and new supporters who were just learning about our work for the first time. Approved by the Board of Directors 8/13/13 Mission Bikes Not Bombs uses the bicycle as a vehicle for social change. We reclaim thousands of bicycles each year. We create local and global programs that provide skill development, jobs, and sustainable transportation. Despite the prevailing poverty in Amuru, I’ve noticed quite a few changes and improvements in development and well being since my last visit in 2011. Two years ago, malaria was the number one killer disease, but due to various interventions, and the activity of the Amuru Village Health Workers (VHWs), its impact has been reduced. Read more...

On December 1st 2012, Bikes Not Bombs loaded our 50,000th bike for international shipment. An outstanding crew of volunteers attended to help load the shipment which is headed to our partner, Ability Bikes Cooperative, in Ghana. Amidst excitement and celebration, Bikes Not Bombs' founder Carl Kurz loaded the 50,000th bike, and spoke about the beginnings of Bikes Not Bombs and its steady growth over the past 28 years. Almost 80 people attended Bikes Not Bombs’ second annual Building Momentum Breakfast on Wednesday, October 24 at Space with a Soul Loft on Summer Street in downtown Boston.   Guests enjoyed a delicious breakfast donated by our friends at Ula Café and Barrington Coffee and heard from Bikes Not Bombs leaders, such as Neil Leifer, a devoted volunteer and donor, our own Elijah Evans (Director of Youth Programs) who emceed the event, and Executive Director Jodi Sugerman-Brozan.
