Executive Director Jodi Sugerman-Brozan addresses the room.

Bikes Not Bombs' Fifth Annual Building Momentum Breakfast welcomed 85 people on Thursday October 15th at the Cambridge Innovation Center in downtown Boston. Ula Cafe and Barrington Coffee provided a breakfast of yogurt, granola, Ula's famous pastries and steaming coffee for guests. At the event staff, supporters and volunteers shared stories of their relationship with Bikes Not Bombs.

Bikes Not Bombs Executive Director Jodi Sugerman-Brozan, emcee and Youth Programs graduate Zacorah Jackman, Youth Employee Aisha Revolus and Adult Instructor and Wheels In Motion team member Neil Leifer spoke at the breakfast. Aisha shared her tales of BNB, saying "Bikes Not Bombs is a unique organization - everyone is willing to help and willing to listen. You don't find that a lot."

We are especially grateful that over 64% of guests were inspired to support Bikes Not Bombs' work by committing to multi-year gifts, including 3 donors who joined our “Wheels in Motion” team, a group of individuals pledging at least $1,000 per year for the next five years.  One existing member of the Wheels in Motion team also increased and extended their pledge.  We are honored and excited to announce that in total, the Building Momentum Breakfast raised over $69,000 for the next 5 years in support of our youth, international and shop programs which will allow us to reliably plan for the future and deepen our impact. The generosity of all in attendance was especially moving and symbolizes the strength of our grassroots community that provides over 70% of Bikes Not Bombs' financial support.

An 8-minute video, produced by Shop Mechanic Derek McIntire & International Programs Director David Branigan, was shown at the breakfast, providing a glimpse into the daily happenings in our programs.  In the video youth leaders, BNB staff and Founder Mira speak about the start and goals of Bikes Not Bombs.  Organizer-Educator Modesto Sanchez perfectly sums up our efforts in Earn-A-Bike and BOCA by saying "These programs create youth leaders."

We are so grateful to our planning committee and everyone who helped make this event a success. Thank you to Ula Cafe for catering, Barrington Coffee for the coffee and Cambridge Innovation Center for the space. An amazing film by Derek McIntire, David Branigan, Northern Light Productions and Bob Nesson and event photos by Will Daniels all contributed to the success of the breakfast. Special thanks to Table Captains who invited guests - Amelie Ratliff, John Adams and Michelle Gurel, Scott Carson, David Read, Jane Craycroft and Robson Goulart, John (Rosy) Rosenwinkel, Rob Naser, Tom Innis, David Nierenberg, Bob Thomas and Polly Hoppin. And last but far from least, thank you to everyone who joined us.
