Farewell to Samantha Wechsler

News released on:
Oct 19th, 2011

Dear Friends,

It is with mixed emotions that we write to you today. Samantha Wechsler, the exceptional Executive Director of Bikes Not Bombs for the last three years, is leaving the organization to pursue other interests.

With Sam’s guidance Bikes Not Bombs has evolved tremendously. Sam successfully guided the organization through a time of development and expansion, extensive optimization of internal systems and policies, recruitment of dedicated and talented staff, board members and volunteers, and expansion of fundraising capacity. As a result of Sam’s leadership Bikes Not Bombs is in a much stronger position to respond to the growing need for the youth, international and bicycle reclamation programs we offer. So it is with real sadness and deep gratitude that we bid farewell to Sam and wish her well in future endeavors.

We are also excited to announce the search for our next executive. Through the generosity of the Barr Foundation, Bikes Not Bombs has in recent months engaged in a process of organizational assessment, staff and board development led by Third Sector New England (TSNE) Interim Executive Director and Consultant, Stewart Lanier. This work has helped us clarify next steps as we evolve in our effective fulfillment of the BNB mission. Building upon this work, we are now making arrangements with TSNE to provide a consultant who will facilitate our executive search process. We will be posting the job description soon.

We are looking forward with optimism and confidence about the coming years and hope we can count on your continued support as together we faithfully fulfill our mission to use the bicycle as a vehicle for social change!

For Bikes Not Bombs,
Scott Thomson
