Help BNB Load Bikes to Ability Bikes Cooperative in Ghana

Sat, Dec 1st, 2012, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

Where this container is going

(In Ghana)
A micro-enterprise bike shop based in Koforidua, Ghana, that is cooperatively owned and operated by physically challenged people.

What's a container loading?

When we ship bikes overseas through our International Programs, we have to pack them into a huge sea freight container as tightly as possible. With careful packing we're able to fit up to 500 bikes (plus parts) in one container, but this is no easy feat! We need all the volunteer help we can get, so this is where you come in! Helping out at a container loading is hard work, but very rewarding. You'll meet new folks and feel great knowing that your energy is helping bring affordable transportation and economic development to communities in need.

Attending this loading

The event is RAIN or SHINE.

  • Volunteer for the whole day or help out for an hour – we'd love to see you!
  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
  • The warehouse does not have heat or A/C and will be open to the air, so bring weather appropriate clothing.
  • Also bring a pair of work gloves, or something similar, if you have them because you will be carrying a lot of old dusty bikes.

Where to show up

Come to our warehouse at:
10 Harvard Street, Dorchester, MA

The warehouse is about a 10 minute walk from the Fields Corner T-Stop.
