DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 37th annual Bike-A-Thon on September 8th\, 2024! \nWe are thrilled to launch this year’s Bike-A-Thon with five amazing rides to choose from: 10 mile\, 35 mile\, 50 mile\, 63 mile\, and 105 mile road routes! Each route will be supported with rest stops\, food\, and route markings. If riding is not for you\, we have over 120 volunteer opportunities at the event! \nFor all event details\, including routes and registration\, check out our Bike-A-Thon website here! \nThis year\, our fundraising goal is $230\,000! Riders and event supporters help raise critical funds to support Bikes Not Bombs mission through: \n\nThe reclamation of bikes for use in unique local and international social justice projects;\nOpportunities for youth and adults to gain hands-on skills while working to build a more sustainable world;\nMeaningful jobs and professional mentorship for Boston teenagers and young adults; and\nThe expansion of a thriving\, equitable bike culture\, locally and globally.\n\nEvent Overview \nRiders arrive at Stonybrook Field in Jamaica Plain on the day of the event between 6:45am and 10:30am\, depending on their chosen route. Upon arriving\, riders park their bikes (valet bike parking is provided)\, register if they have not already done so\, enjoy a free breakfast\, and get their bike checked by BNB mechanics before leaving on their ride! \nAll of the Bike-A-Thon routes will be clearly marked on the road and GPX routes will be available for download and use with a smartphone or a GPS bike computer. Each route will have at least one rest stop where riders can hydrate and fuel up on snacks. Each rest stop will be staffed by volunteers\, including a bike mechanic and a medical professional for any bike repair or first aid needs. \nAll rides end at Stonybrook Field\, where there will be an after-party with live music and delicious catered lunch\, including many vegan and vegetarian options. \nFor all event details\, including routes and registration\, check out our Bike-A-Thon website here!

DESCRIPTION:Join Bikes Not Bombs & friends on Saturday August 16th to explore Boston and compete in a multi-modal scavenger hunt: the Great Commuter Challenge!  \nTeams of 2 to 5 people will pick a mode of transportation (car\, MBTA\, or bike) and compete against each other — and the clock — to rack up points on a scavenger hunt challenge en route to our final destination.  \nTeams will be given a list of scavenger hunt challenges to pick from\, creating & navigating their own path through the city. Points will be awarded for each challenge completed as well as arrival times\, with bonus points awarded for extra efforts along the way. Photograph each stop with your team for judges to confirm your points! \nAs teams arrive\, we’ll tally up the points to determine our winners. Prizes include biking accessories and a BNB gift card. At the end location\, join us for lunch and ice cream while we share our journeys\, compare our scavenger hunt points\, and hand out prizes to our winners! \nStarting point: Bikes Not Bombs\, 284 Amory St in Jamaica Plain \nEnd point: Final location will be revealed at the event\, but we will be ending in East Cambridge at a location accessible by car\, public transportation\, and bike.  \nRSVP required: Let us know if you can make it! Everyone is welcome to join. Please RSVP by Friday August 15th so that we can order enough food for everyone. \nSchedule: \n\n10:00 am: Meet up at BNB\, form your teams\, and review the rules. DESCRIPTION:Save the Date: Bikes Not Bombs’ Century Challenge Ride is BACK on Sunday October 4th 2026! \nJoin BNB for our Century Challenge Ride – a long-distance fundraising ride that celebrates the best components of cycling in New England\, without the crowds or high fundraising commitments of other charity rides. Registration coming soon! \nThe Century Challenge is a low-key\, semi-supported ride with two staffed rest stops (one on the 63 mile route\, two on the 105 mile route) and a roving mechanic for support; plus suggested cafe\, water\, and bathroom stops along the route for you. Rise to the challenge on October 4th! \nLooking for ways to train before the ride? Sign up for the Bike-A-Thon on Sunday May 17th to kick off your training plan!
