Marcell & Faith, Adult Earn-A-Bike graduates with their new bikes!

Need a new bike? Are you looking to develop your knowledge of bikes and bike mechanics? Do you love cycling and want to share that passion with Boston youth? Are you looking for a meaningful way to volunteer with a local non-profit? If so, our new Adult Earn-A-Bike program (AEAB) is for you!

There are two components of the Adult Earn-A-Bike program: a training component and a service component. During the training component, BNB Youth Instructors will teach particpants a foundation in basic bike mechanics and train them in the teaching methods, role modeling and leadership skills, and age and gender sensitivity that you need to successfully volunteer in BNB Youth Programs. During the service component, participants are REQUIRED to volunteer in BNB's youth Earn-A-Bike program (at least one program day per week) from 3:30pm-7:30pm in at least one session of Earn-A-Bike or Girls In Action. (See upcoming program sessions here).

After graduation, participants will earn a professionally refurbished bicycle, a helmet, lock and lights. All graduates will receive a 15% discount at the BNB Bike Shop for one year and access to Adult Earn-A-Bike Alumni Night.

Adults of all identities are encouraged to apply. Spanish skills are helpful but not required. No bicycle mechanics experience necessary. Eligible participants are 19 years of age or older, and identify with one of the following:

  • lack financial access to bikes
  • live in a community that is underserved by public transportation
  • in transition from incarceration
  • immigrant to the US
  • otherwise interested in helping BNB to run our youth programs
