Thank you to everyone who helped to make the 2022 Building Momentum Breakfast such a great success!

The Building Momentum Breakfast is Bikes Not Bombs' annual fundraiser breakfast where we gather staff, board members, volunteers, and donors to highlight our many successes over the past year and our bold vision for the future.

This year's event was held at the Devine Golf Course Clubhouse in Franklin Park (Dorchester, MA). Fun fact: this was the location of our first ever Building Momentum Breakfast program.

We had over 60 people in attendance and collected over $92,440 in donations ...and growing! Thank you to everyone who was able to attend. Check out some of the highlights below, including our Beyond the Bike documentary that premiered at the event as well as some photos of our youth apprentice speaker and distinguished BNB alum.

Beyond the Bike: Bikes Not Bombs 2022

"Beyond the Bike" is a short documentary (approximately eight minutes) that charts and highlights BNB’s vision for the future, including our three-year Youth Pathways (apprenticeship) model and our expansion into Roxbury.

Directed by Lindsey Briggs of Social U Digital and Gary Chin of Bikes Not Bombs, Beyond the Bike is a testament to the amazing work BNB does and will continue to do.

Distinguished Alumni: Eddie Depina

This year, we had the privilege of honoring our Distinguished Alumni Eddie Depina.

Eddie first learned about Bikes Not Bombs when he was in the 8th grade. in 2013, Eddie signed up for his first Bikes Not Bombs program, Earn-A-Bike, and was able to get a job with the organization a year later as a mechanic. Taking the skills and thirst for knowledge that he developed working at Bikes Not Bombs, Eddie would ultimately land a job with Boeing where he is currently a Field Inspector, offering a trained set of eyes and assuring quality and safety for each Boeing plane.

In his concluding remarks, Eddie said, "I am very grateful that I was part of Bikes Not Bombs. There’s really nothing like it anywhere else. It’s a place where people stay positive, it keeps people off the streets and teaches them to learn, to share their knowledge, and make an impact. I am happy to say that without BNB I wouldn’t be where I am. Thank you for this award. I am incredibly honored."
