The MBTA was recently reviewed top-to-bottom by an independent group of analysts, with some very startling findings released on November 4th.  Chief in the list of concerns was the MBTA's massive maintenance backlog, a safety concern, which is exacerbated by the MBTA's dire financial situation.

BNB, as a Steering Committee member of the On The Move Transportation Justice Coalition, has been highlighting these twin issues for years, and the time is now for the Mass Department of Transportation and legislature to act by working to find a financial solution to the MBTA's debt-driven downward spiral.  By taking action, we will be able to realize service improvements and affordable fares, yielding an increased ridership and less automobile traffic!  Please contact your elected state representatives and urge them to move on this issue.  Feel free to contact Jeremy (jeremy@bikesnotbombs.org) with any questions.
