Help Teach in the Youth Programs, training starts

Adult volunteers needed! Take this training to get ready to help teach in Earn-A-Bike! We'll give you a free course in bike mechanics, and then you will help teach young people to rebuild and earn a bike, while going on fun rides and teaching safe riding and environmental issues. Spanish language skills and/or youth-work experience are helpful, but no experience is required.

The Training:

Mon Aug 31: Intro to BNB, Flat Fixing, Safety Rodeo, Safety Video
Tue Sept 1: Front and Rear Hubs
Wed Sept 2: Bottom Brackets
Thur Sept 3: Headsets
Tue Sept 8: Behavior Management and Gender Sensitivity (mandatory)
Wed Sept 9: Brakes
Thur Sept 10: Derailleurs
Fri Sept 11: Ride Preparation

Training meets 6-8pm on each of these days.



The Teaching:

Once you have the skills, choose 1 day a week (for at least one session) to help teach during either the Spring or Fall Earn-A-Bike or Girls In Action session.

Fall 09 Earn-A-Bike: Sept 14 - Oct 15 (Mon-Thurs 3:00-6:30 prep & teaching time)
Fall 09 Girls In Action: Oct 26 - Dec 17 (Mon-Thurs 3:00-6:30 prep & teaching time)
