BNB Seeks Two Program Support Interns For Summer 2009 Youth Programs

Youth programs is seeking two interns for our summer 2009 program season. Interns will assist in program support in the areas of curriculum design, administrative support, program management, and coordination of the annual youth programs summer trip.

Ideal candidates will have an interest in positive youth development, experiential education, cycling and bicycle mechanics, and environmental justice. Experience in these areas is highly preferred but not required.

The 2009 summer program season will run from mid-June to mid-August. Candidates who are able to work the entire season are preferred, but those who may only be able to work for part of the summer will be considered.

The tasks and responsibilities of the position will be determined by the intern’s interests and skills along with the current needs of the organization. Possible tasks might include:
  • Planning and facilitating environmental justice lessons during Earn-a-Bike sessions.
  • Coordinating and performing maintenance of youth programs “fleet bikes” used for program rides.
  • Collaborating with the Girls’ Programming and Safety coordinator to design and carry out activities aligned with program objectives.
  • Organizing and leading Saturday morning rides to sites around the city of Boston.
  • Coordinating youth instructor staff in planning the annual summer trip.
