Volunteers Needed, Bikes for Ghana

Nov 9 2008 - 4:30pm

On Sunday November 9th, a few hundred donated bikes (plus some books, computers, crutches, wheelchairs, and computers) collected in Brattleboro VT will be arriving at the Bikes Not Bombs warehouse in Jamaica Plain. These bikes and other supplies will be going into our November 16th shipment to our newest project in Ghana (see http://www.bikesnotbombs.org/node/413 for more info on that shipment and project). We need a few volunteers to help unload the truck and stack these in the warehouse to be ready for shipping overseas. You may wish to bring work gloves. This will happen rain or shine - and we can back our trucks partially into the warehouse space to stay dry if it is raining.

We expect the trucks to arrive from VT between 4:30 and 5:00pm. We can exchange cell numbers so that we can check in with you closer to the time to coordinate our arrivals.

Interested? Great! Make sure to contact us first in case we've already found other volunteers, but we probably want your help! Call us at 617-522-0222 and ask for Carl, or email carl@bikesnotbombs.org up until Friday evening. After that, instead call our Bike Shop at 617-522-0226 and ask them to get a message to Carl. Thanks!

Directions

This event does NOT happen at the Bikes Not Bombs Hub, but is just around the corner at our warehouse space at 179 Boylston St., Jamaica Plain, 2 blocks from the StonyBrook T stop on the Orange Line. Coming out of the StonyBrook T stop, you are on Boylston Street. Turn left, cross Amory Street, and then you'll see a large parking lot behind a chain link fence on your right, and our large red warehouse building.
